First time using the Kraft boxes, and I'm kind of in love. My boyfriend has switched to working nights for this month, and so the only time we actually spend together, despite living in the same household, has been on the weekends. I had been making chocolate embellishments to top some cupcakes for a party this weekend, and was inspired by how easy it was, so I made a little something to leave on his desk. Thinking of making some valentines ones for coworkers now, too!

Just My Style

Posted by Bailey Skye on 10:14 AM in
It's been awhile since I made a post, but I have a few things backlogged that I will be posting in the next few days. :) Put for today I just want to share a quick card that I made that turned out pretty great for something so simple!

I was playing with the idea of stamping on designer paper and adding it to my original stamped image, and I think it looks pretty great! I was a little worried with how busy the paper was, but I think it came out just great.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. :)

Keeping Busy

Posted by Bailey Skye on 11:46 AM in , ,
Well I did some more stamping yesterday. I finished another birthday card for one of my February birthdays and did a thank you card for the lady who will be hosting my Norwex party next weekend.

The thank you card was actually part of a card kit that my Splitcoast Secret Elf made me for my 12 Days of Christmas swap. I wasn't too fond of the designs she suggested with her kit so I did my own take with what she had included. It worked out. I didn't mind the design so I made another set of 3 to sell. :)

Hope you've all had a good weekend. I might end up stamping a little more today.

Happy creating!

Birthday Blooms!

Well I realize it has been awhile since I last posted. Christmas was hectic, and I was in a bit of a creative slump to be completely honest. I hope everyone had a great Christmas & that you were all fortunate enough to bring in the New Year with those you love. Of course, with the New Year comes those resolutions that we can never seem to keep. I'm awful keen on sticking to mine this year. My one goal is to send out cards to all my close friends & family for their birthdays this year. I think I can keep to it, and it motivates me to keep stamping all year!

I've been debating getting the Stampin' Up! paper trimmer for awhile now, and I was so set on doing it at the end of the month. My current trimmer is just garbage now. I mean, it's probably fine other than the fact that it needs a new blade, but it was a limited edition trimmer that they no longer make blades for. My paper has been getting little paper fibers every time I use it, and finally the paper started tearing. I decided I just couldn't wait until the end of the month, so I went to Staples and got the Fiskars trimmer. Honestly, I was so happy just to have nice clean cuts, it put me right in the mood to get creative.

So I created this little gem! It's super simple, but pulled me right out of my slump.

Now I think I have one of my birthday cards done for this month. ;)

Happy Stamping!

October 2013 Card Class

Posted by Bailey Skye on 11:11 AM in ,
Just a quick post today! Just wanted to show you the cards I made yesterday at my first card class with my new Stampin' Up! demonstrator. :)

The first one was a card where we could choose the sentiment. I ended up kind of just winging it. The white was embossed with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder, and we used Stampin' Up! glitter paper and washi tape between. There were many different washi tape patterns, and I picked this one which ended up being more of a champagne color. I chose the sentiment last as I thought it would make a beautiful card for a wedding or engagement. I really love this one the most I think.

The second one was more of a fall themed card. We layer stamped with the Magnificent Maple stamp from the holiday mini, then I chose the Square Lattice embossing folder to emboss my background. I added a little bit of hemp cause I felt the card was just bare without it.

This card was very easy, made using the Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card Kit. I am actually in love with this little kit, thinking of picking one up myself as they're only $11.95 & make 8 cards. I think I just really love the patterned paper. I'm a sucker for stripes! My demo forgot to bring the Merry Little Christmas stamp to go with the card kit, so we were forced to get creative and use whatever stamp we liked. I chose from the Oh, Goodie! set, stamped the sentiment 3 times.

Last was this poinsettia card. Honestly, I don't think I'd ever really use this set, but this card did turn out quite nicely. The background paper is from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack. The stamp is from Joyful Christmas, and was embossed with silver embossing powder. We also used the Silver ribbon from the holiday mini, and the Frosted Finishes Embellishments. So cute. Originally I was going to make this a Christmas card but the sentiment didn't fit the punch, so I chose a 'Thank You' instead. :)

Well those were my creations from my first card class. I also got to play around with the envelope creator and that was actually a pretty neat little thing to use. Oh the possibilities!

Thanks for stopping by. :)

Moving Forward

Posted by Bailey Skye on 11:13 PM in ,
Well it's been an interesting few days. On Saturday I quit my job, was working in a really toxic environment and had just had enough. Starting to look for something new, and it's exciting, but also a little stressful. I've been trying to do more stamping, but honestly haven't accomplished much. Made this little gem last night, and it's really simple, I did it for a Splitcoast sketch challenge. I just really like the non-traditional holiday colors. It's nothing fancy, but I do like it. Really love my Paper Smooches stamps.

I get a little frustrated stamping lately because I feel like I have so little to work with. Since I just started building up my little studio from scratch, I am still getting things together. And now the wallet will be tight until I find some new work, so I'll have to add to it sparingly for the next little while. I really want to get a cuttlebug or one of the die cut machines. Too cute.

I went to my first stamping class tonight. I found a SU! demonstrator in my area and she hosts a class every month on the last Monday, so I am going to start attending that. We made 4 cards tonight, and I Just really enjoy how they all turned out and the new techniques and tools that have come out since I last stamped a few years ago. I think being able to play with all the new tools, but then going home and not having them is what makes me so frustrated, haha. I'll post the cards I made at my class tomorrow. :)

Thanks for visiting!

Thanksgiving Holidays

Posted by Bailey Skye on 11:48 AM in ,
Well it was a really great Thanksgiving weekend. The boy & I were able to drive over to Saskatchewan to see my family and indulge in delicious food! I think everything went over pretty well. We had good drives, made good time there & coming back. It was so good to see family, and hard to say goodbye.

My Paper Smooches order arrived the day before we left and I was so excited to try out my new stamp sets. Luckily I scored some time to stamp with my Mom & this is what I came up with.

This was my first time using Paper Smooches, and I must say I really enjoyed the stamps. I still have some paper & embellishments to try out as well, and I must say, I am quite excited to get going!
